We support young people fighting cancer to live their best life

Story

At the end of 2014 I was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer of the blood. Being so young and healthy it made absolutely no sense to me why I was having to leave my job and my friends abroad to go home and fight a battle with cancer. As I began a grueling year of chemotherapy, surgery, daily injections and medication, I felt incredibly alone, as if I was the only young person in the world with cancer.

Thankfully my body reacted well to the treatment, and I'm now proud to say that I'm in remission. However, the emotional and mental difficulties which I faced during my battle seemed a much harder challenge to deal with than the medical ones.

Thankfully, shortly after diagnosis I was fortunate enough to be introduced to a charity called Teens Unite, and that's when my life began to change. As a charity they arrange motivational and exciting days out and workshops for young people battling cancer or in remission, which provides them with the opportunity to meet others in similar situations and realise that they are not alone.

The support I received from this charity has changed my life, and has made me realise that in some ways my cancer has been a blessing. Therefore, I'm taking on this crazy 2-day 150 mile cycle around Majorca in hope to raise some money for them, so they are able to support even more young people like me!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
