On 26th July 2000 at 1.40 am I gave birth to our son Kian. Sadly he was born with a heart condition that wasn't picked up on any of my scans. Whilst I carried him he was fine but once I'd given birth he struggled to survive on his own. Doctors and nurses at the Special Care Baby Unit at Farnborough Hospital did their very best to try to stabilise him whilst waiting for an ambulance to transfer him to Guys Hopsital. After a very long wait an ambulance came to transfer him then once at Guys they tried to stabilise him further to enable them to operate on him. Sadly they where unable to do this and he became much weaker, at 3.40pm he passed away, his very short life lasted only 14 hours. It was the most heartbreaking time of my life.
I have decided that I would like to run the London Marathon this year in order to raise as much money as I can to help the SCBU at The Princess Royal University Hospital (formerly Farnborough Hospital) so that they can continue to do their best. For those of you that know me know that this is a huge challenge for me but it is important to me to do this for the memory of my baby, I really do appreciate all the support I am being given by my family and friends to do this.
Thank you for all of your support.
