Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Huge Thank you to www.lookafterlearners.co.uk and all the lovely people at www.worldpay.com for their continued support and donations.

Gibbsy - Running the Marathon- NO Way!!!

For those that know me well, you will know that my mind will get me through the 26.2 miles but....... my body may not!! The more money I can raise for the Saracens Foundation, the more my mind will drive my body. Please dig deep, the more you back me, the more I will back myself.

So - Why the Saracens Foundation?

The foundation aims to change young people's lives through the power of sport. Using the Saracens Rugby Club ethos & principles, they bring structure and challenge to the lives of young people in some of the most impoverished parts of London and the Home Counties. To find out more about the foundation click here: http://www.saracens.com/community/sport-foundation/

For me personally, they have been a complete inspiration and have helped me drive through a unique programme called GetOnSide, aimed at diverting young people away from lives of crime and giving them some focus and opportunites away from the poor influences of gangs and street life. GetOnSide was shortlisted in the Aviva Premiership Community Awards this year

As Nigel Wray (Chairman of Saracen's RFC) put it - "Come and be in my Gang - My Gang is much better than your Gang, my Gang is the best Gang".

Several youngsters have now joined 'our gang'. Have stopped offending, are training at London Rugby Clubs and playing on weekends, have a mentor, are assisting as community coaches and have a completely new focus in life.

The course is expensive - approx £4000/participant, but so far, the foundation along with Nigel digging in to his own pocket, have never said no. This is my chance to now put somethingback for their generosity.

Can Do Attitude

Whenever I have approached Saracens Foundation over the years, they have always responded with - "Yep, we can do that!"

So, when I got the opportunity to run the Marathon, to raise funds for the foundation, I only had one thought - "Yep, I can do that!"

So, I implore you all - give generously, follow my progress, see me suffer - you might even see me cry, but please please please...dig deep to support me and the foundation.

Thanks,

Karl
