Halloween Orbit Abseil · 27 October 2017 ·

St Mungo’s provides a bed and support to more than 3,150 people a night who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.

Story

14 of my colleagues and I are throwing ourselves down the Orbit sculpture in what is (or so I am told) is the country's highest freefall abseil at 260feet.

Why? to raise money for Chestertons' favourite charity: St Mungo's.

St Mungo's was chosen as Chestertons' nominated charity because we  want to help end homelessness and they're the best at tackling this issue.

As they say:

"St Mungo's vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions. As a homelessness charity and housing association our clients are at the heart of what we do. We provide a bed and support to more than 2,600 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and work to end homelessness and rebuild lives."

They support men and women through more than 250 projects including: emergency, hostel and supportive housing projects; advice services; specialist physical and mental health services; and skills and work services."
