My story

Most of you know the reason why I am running the London Marathon but for those who don't this is the story.

My daughter Emily contracted Meninigitis/Encephalitis in Sept 2006 - lucky for her she survived thanks to the dedicated staff at East Surrey Hospital ITU and St Georges Hospital ITU.  Emily spent a total of 7 months in Hospital, two months in a coma and on life support.  Due to some brain damage Emily has had to re-learn how to do everything - things we all take for granted - from speaking, eating, sitting, writing and walking.

After three months in a NHS Rehabilitation Centre Emily was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Foundation in Banstead.  The main aim to give Emily a quality of life that we all enjoy and take for granted.

She has achieved beyond our expectations and when she leaves in July she is going on the college to study for an HND.  Whilst at the centre she has learnt to drive again which has now given her confidence.  Her recovery is on-going and eventually we hope she will walk unaided one day.

To thank those involved in her care, I have set myself a goal - 'to run the London Marathon' in aid of Queen Elizabeth Foundation.

I now ask you to all to dig deep and sponsor me.
