THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
your fantastic support has meant that we have reached our target - which will really help the Monkey Sanctuary Trust at a time when they need every penny!
We had a fantastic day the atmosphere was electric and despite the fact that we had to run it was an amazing experience. Who's doing next year?!
The Monkey Sanctuary Trust is one of a few primate sanctuaries in the UK and has be rescuing neglected ex-pet and ex-entertainment monkeys for over 45 years at it's sanctuary in Cornwall. It does amazing work changing attitudes and raising awareness of primates and their habitat around the world.
Monkeys like Joey who was snatched from his mothers arms in the jungle Surinam to sold as a pet and shipped to the UK to spend the first 10 years of his life living in a flat in London. During those 10 years Joey never went outside, never felt the wind on his face or the sun on his back. As a consequence of a poor diet and the lack of D3 from sunlight he developed many physical problems and has difficulty moving around. Luckily for Joey the Monkey Sanctuary Trust was alerted to his plight when his owner abandoned him and a neighbour called asking for help! Joey now lives at the monkey sanctuary. He is such a wonderful character and his sheer determination to make up for lost time enjoying live is an inspiration for us all.
Inspired by Joey and on behalf of others like him we are challenging ourselves to run the Great North Run half marathon and we hope you will help us help monkeys in need.
