Story
The things some people do to celebrate their 40th - their belated 40th - or neither!
Gill Varley, Rachel Ross Russell and Claire Turner decided, against their better judgement, to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro in north-eastern Tanzania - the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895m (19,341 feet) above sea level. They were lucky enough to all successfully summit the mountain on the morning of Thursday 21 June 2012.
All three raised money for Hope and Homes for Children - a charity working with children, their families and communities across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa. It moves children out of institutions into family-based care, helping keep together families at risk of breakdown from the pressures of poverty, disease or conflict and works to prevent child abandonment.
NONE of the money raised went towards the cost of the trip - ALL goes direct to the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.
