Story

Update 30/08/2012:

Well, I successfully completed my 24 hours in full, and ended up staying up until the evening to get my body clock back in line as quick as possible (39 hours awake in total!). It was tough, but successful and very well worth it when I see your generous donations coming in. Thanks to all those who listened on the day and kept the chat going in irc. This page will be open for at least another 2 weeks to collect any final donations, so don't feel you've missed the boat. Give enough, and I might even send you a copy of the set (almost 2Gb of MP3 at 192kbps!)

There is an article online in the Croydon Guardian at http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/topstories/9896600.DJ_plays_for_24_hours_to_help_cure_diabetes/?ref=nt and I did appear on BBC Radio London - skip to 1hr 44min at the following:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00wsvqq (will not work after 5pm 31/8/12)

On Saturday 25 August 2012 I will be attempting to mix continuous music single handedly for 24 hours to raise money for JDRF. My daughter, Roisin, has had type 1 diabetes since she was 13 months old. Since then we have had to get used to the daily routine of finger prick blood tests (at least 6 a day), insulin injections (5 a day) and carbohydrate counting at every meal and snack time. You don't see this disease or in public, because we have to put in so much work to control it in private. This is my annual shout out to the world about the effect type 1 diabetes has on children and parents' lives.

If you can spare any money at all to help JDRF to continue to fund research into finding a cure for juvenile diabetes, then please donate as much as you can. The generosity and support I received last year was amazing and truly humbling. The least I can do is offer some entertainment in return!

To listen on the day, go to http://radio.tmb.dj/gingersteveMP3.m3u (a 192kbps mp3 stream). I'll be live from 8am. To offer encouragement or shout abuse go to http://radio.tmb.dj/chat.html or join #themixingbowl on quakenet irc.
