Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, i will be running(!) the London Marathon in April 2010.
It is a little sad that people generally become interested in a particular charity if it directly affects them or someone they know, or when it happens to be a particularly well advertised charity. Many of us are the same in this regard and only the best of us are any different. I must admit that before a year ago i would have had little idea what PKD was at all; i knew next to nothing about the disease or the impact it can have on peoples lives. I now know a great deal more. I have already seen some of the physical effects it can have, the strain it puts on mental well being. I am witnessing it presently in loved ones. But what scares me as much as anything is the potential impact that this disease, which relatively little is know about, could have on those most dear to me in the future. It can lay dorment for many years, before causing problems in later life, including the potential for kidney failure. We don't know for sure because THEY don't know. This charity, just like all the other equally desrving charities relies on funds being raised in this kind of way. Charity begins at home, so please help me raise much needed funds for research. Please follow the link (after you've so kindly donated), to read more about their good work...
Also, special thanks to LeftandRight for providing my running vest, and Soulutions Gym for providing complimentary use of their gym 'til the good work's done!
