Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am entered to run the Kilimanjaro Marathon on the 27th February 2011. Training is well underway dispite one or two setbacks, and all being well I'll make it around the 42.2km course in 4 hours 15 minutes. That's my time target (survival being the primary ambition, of course!).

As many of you no doubt know, my wife Cathy works for Christian Aid in Ethiopia. So I see first-hand the poverty here, and the difference that your money can make to the lives of people living in poverty. For this reason I would like to run in support of the "Poverty Over Campaign". Christian Aid are working to ensure that people can at least get things like clean drinking water through the capping of wells and piping the water to villages so that it arrives uncontaminated. There advocacy work also puts pressure on governments to meet basic living standards for their populations, and making govenments of richer countries accountable for their actions in the developing world as well.

I want to raise at least £15/km. That's why my fundraising target is £633!!

This is my first marathon, and will be run at 1200m above sea level, on an not particularly flat course. So, as you can tell, I've made it really easy for myself! ;-) It will be a challenge, but then I was always fond of a good challenge!!

So go on, please dig deep and donate now (and spare a thought on race day).

Thanks,

Glyn.
