Over the next 12 months through our charity partner, Build It International, BGL will exclusively fund the building of a new school with three classrooms, new sanitation facilities, plus a house for teachers.

In May 2014, I will be taking part in a 10 day visit to Zambia. During the trip, alongside completing the building of the school, I will live in the community, interact with the children and faculty, and even deliver lessons and reading practice to a group of pupils. The trip is a unique chance to experience life in a rural Zambian village and witness the positive impact of BGL’s support

BGL Group support will enable Build it to improve the lives of at least 35,000 people over three years 

Kabaka Community School – what’s the plan?

To build a new three classroom school.

To build a new teachers’ house within the school complex.

To build new latrines.

To provide a new bore hole and hand pump for a fresh water supply.

Why Zambia?

64% live below the poverty line of 80p a day.

80% of people have no regular income.

Only 10% have formal employment.

There is a huge infrastructure deficit in schools, clinics and low-cost housing.

16,000 new classrooms are required.

There are few trained builders and standards of construction are low.

A serious skills shortage in the sector provides plenty of opportunities for Build It trainees.

A UK based charity helping young men and women work their way out of poverty, whilst building much needed health clinics, primary and secondary Schools in Zambia.
