Story
Friends, Family and Colleagues - thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
This is my first half-marathon, and I am running for a really worthwhile charity - Starfish.
Starfish is an international development charity that helps children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS in southern Africa. It is currently supporting more than 36,000 children in all nine provinces of South Africa and works with project partners at grassroots level to deliver care and education for children who are desperately in need.
£20 will provide an emergency medical pack for a caregiver – these care visits ensure that the children have everything they need to feed younger siblings, send elder children to school and generally offer care.
£21 will send a child back to school – the children that we support need to attend school to escape a cycle of poverty and vulnerability. Children in South Africa need a school uniform in order to attend school.
£100 will provide equipment for a crèche for 50 children – Starfish funds crèches so that the older children of the family can head to school without having to worry about their younger siblings care and safety.
So you can see that if I make my target of £1,500, I will make a huge difference to a large number of children.
JustGiving sends your money directly to the charity and makes sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, so please make sure you indicate you are UK taxpayer if this is the case, to maximise the sponsorship,
Thanks very much, in advance, for your generous support.
Cheers, Gordon
