Story
On the 23rd of May, I completed he Edinburgh Marathon for Marie Curie Cancer Care, a 26.2 mile run, in 5 and a half hours. This was a longer time than I had hoped, but after training in temperatures of -6 to 15 degrees, on the day the temperature hit around 25 degrees!
So far I have reached my target, so a huge thanks is due to everyone who has donated so far, but the aim now is to smash through it!
I decided to set myself the challenge back in October with one of my friends on a night out, and since then, five of us decided to take part!
I started training in January after the festive period was over, and the training gradually increased until 10 days before the event.
I ran to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. My Mum spent a year working for the charity, and having heard about the work they do I was keen to help raise funds. One of my fellow runners is also running for Marie Curie after losing his grandfather to cancer. These two factors brought me to the decision.
Marie Curie provides free nursing care through the night in the homes of terminally ill patients. For more information please follow the link: http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/
