The British Red Cross, a charity incorporated by Royal Charter 1908, helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.

Story

I have bravely accepted the challenge set by the British Red Cross to be one of the first on scene at their Disaster Response Challenge.

I will experience the very real challenges and decision faced by the Red Cross Emergency Response Unit through a disaster scenario that unfolds in real time throughout the event... a relaxing weekend it is not.

In sponsoring me to take part in this event, you will be supporting the work undertaken by the Red Cross in response to real disasters and the other fantastic work they undertake.

Please dig deep and be generous - your support will really make a difference.

The British Red Cross has been running the Disaster Response Challenge since 2004 in Bramley, Hampshire, UK. Together with other participants I will be thrown into disaster management built around a hypothetical disaster that unfolds in real time over a two-day period. This event is a good chance to test and expand my crisis management skills, while also helping the British Red Cross fundraising.
