Story

Well, I ran the London Marathon on Sunday. I finished in 4 hrs 8 mins 32 secs - not a great time (my slowest so far) but I knew this was likely to be the case as I ran more miles on Sunday than I had in total in the four weeks leading up to the race. The main thing is I finished and tried to enjoy the race - high-fiving kids all along the route and smiling as much as possible. As it was hot I ran in my Harrogate Harriers running vest but saw my wife and kids at around 25 miles and put on a Sadie Rose t-shirt for the last mile or so - so it'll be in some of the finishing photos at least.

Thank you to all who have donated - it made sure I started the race and then I always knew I'd finish.

I am running the London Marathon to raise desperately needed funds for Sadie Rose Clifford. Her family are friends of ours - my kids have helped raise funds through dance events.

Sadie Rose is fighting an aggressive childhood cancer called neuroblastoma. It is the most common cancer diagnosed in the first year of life and accounts for around 15% of cancer deaths in children. (See www.childrenscancer.org.uk for more information about the girls and their fight against this relentless cancer).

Every penny I raise from the London Marathon will go towards the costs of potentially life-saving treatment in America for Sadie Rose. The specialised therapy she needs isn’t available in the UK.

Please help me give Sadie Rose a chance, help her get the lifeline she needs by making a donation now. Every donation, however large or small, will really make a difference. Thank you for your support. Every penny counts.
