Thornbury RFC - "Raids Pyrenees" · 14 September 2010

We've been providing tailored and holistic care to those in need in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset area for over 40 years. At your home or ours, we provide care without prejudice, regardless of condition, religion, beliefs or age - and always with your best interests at heart.

Story

As some of you know, and some may not know, I have been bitten by the cycling bug in the last year or so.  I have done a few sponsored cycles and have been doing a lot of training recently as I face my biggest cycling challenge yet - cycling the Pyrenees mountains from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.  Seven hundred and twenty five kilometres of mountains, or cols as the French call them.  A cycle ride known to be 'difficult'....very difficult....very very difficult....so difficult in fact it is officially classed as beyond classification.

I will be cycling in memory of my wife 'Peg', who passed away last year after battling cancer.  I am raising money for St Peter's Hospice, a local charity who supported Peg and our family during that difficult time.  They do a great job, and need every penny to continue to support families like ours with care at the end of life.

I've named my new super bike 'Peg' after my wife (not sure how impressed she'd be with that!) and I know she'll carry me the whole way!!

Please dig deep.
