Race Day 20th September 2009

I joined the field of 55,000 runners and was over a kilometre from the start; once the gun went it was 20 minutes before I crossed the start line, after shaking Stings hand, who started the race. The atmosphere was unbelievable, the buzz from all the runners was intoxicating and the weather was Caribbean like (well it was for this part of the world).

The race, well if you could race through the thousands of people in front of you, was fantastic everywhere you looked there was a Superman or Mr Incredible at one point I came upon a Pushmepullyou well I’d never seen anything like it in my life.

I finished the run in 2:12 just reaching the finish line as the Red Arrows screeched in over South Shields, (how kind of the race officials to do that for me). As you can see I hit my target and then some, thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and donations, it will help to grant a wish and put a smile on a young person’s face giving their family a wonderful memory they will treasure forever.

Many thanks

Graham
