Story
Thank you for visiting my fund raising page. I have just completed my cricket themed 111 mile plus charity walk from Edgbaston (Birmingham) to The Oval.
After 7 days of walking, I, and my fellow walkers (Nic, Graham, Kevin & Mark) arrived at The Oval on Weds 21st August.
We continue to raise funds for Amyloidosis research at UCL in memory of our close friend, Steve Baldwin, who died from this rare disease at the age of 44.
We walked the equivelant of Graham Gooch's England test cricket career. Gooch scored 8,900 runs. Each run is 22 yards (the length of the pitch). 8,900 x 22 yds = 111.25 miles.
Steve was an avid cricket lover and Graham Gooch was his cricketing hero. Graham Gooch gave us his best wishes and is helping our cause by donating some autographed memorabilia - look out for our forthcoming electronic charity auction.
The Amyloidosis Research Fund of the University College London National Amyloidosis Centre is the only centre in the UK specialising in Amyloidosis.
