Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults in the UK have eczema - over 8 million people. For 50 years the Society has provided information and support and works to dispel myths so those who have eczema need not feel stigmatised, guilty or isolated. More recently we have funded essential eczema research.

Story

Imagine if you can holding a new born baby. That baby is your grandchild and you would give the world to see them grow, flower and develop into what is rightfully theirs to become. That baby sleeps fitfully all night long, sleep disrupted wakes scratching and itching, rubbing their arms, legs, and neck till the skin is sore and bleeds. The baby cries and wants relief and comfort which cannot be given effectively to stop the discomfort. Then learn that the baby is experiencing a condition called eczema. ECZEMA a word which basically means ‘to boil over’- heat up. That happens to thousands of babies and children and teenagers and adults on a daily basis. That has happened to three of my grandchildren so far, the medical profession do tell me it is not hereditary and they may grow out of it, however on a combined age of 160 months that’s over 4800 days of discomfort for my grandchildren. The knowledge and help that parents and sufferers of this condition is available through the NATIONAL ECZEMA SOCIETY. AND??? Surprisingly the condition id hereditary, if only I had asked an expert in ECZEMA I would have been told it is hereditary-HEY GO FIGURE!! And I would have been given support and information. SO!!! The crux of the request is to ask you to donate money to alleviate the 210 days of training, miles of discomfort and pain I have to go through to raise money to help the NATIONAL ECZEMA SOCIETY to get that support and information out there to parents and sufferers as well as the professions who come into contact with families and individuals. a BIG THANK YOU in advance of any donations.
