Just a quick note for everyone who has sponsored or taken the time to look at the charity we are supporting , thank you so much go all your support .
On the 17 September a group of individuals from the Black Country area will attempt to cycle the Grand Union canal from Darlaston to London (approximately 160 miles) in three days raising money and awareness for the National Institute of Conductive Education which is based in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The Foundation for Conductive Education is a leading UK charity working to improve the lives of children and adults with neurological motor disorders through the practice of Conductive Education.
Every year, thousands of children and adults are diagnosed with a motor disorder, such as cerebral palsy and dyspraxia in children and Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, stroke and cerebral palsy in adults. Receiving a diagnosis can be a devastating time for all concerned and families and individuals can often feel isolated and not sure of where to turn for information, advice and practical support.
During 2010, over 1,000 children and adults will turn to the Foundation for Conductive Education for support through our on-site services, workshops, training and outreach projects.
The Foundation for Conductive Education offers a whole of life solution to managing a motor disorder condition. It does not set arbitrary barriers on achievement but rather guides and teaches individuals how to overcome these as one large step towards improving quality of life for them and their family.
Conductive Education offers a positive solution and hope for the future.
We are trying to raise money towards their child service as their current funder, Zurich Community Trust, Which has part funded the foundation for the past five years will be ending their financial support very soon.
Last year the foundation supported 45 children in the parent and child service, with 27 living in the West Midlands area. One of the children who have attended the school for the last two years is my daughter Eva Abley, Eva was born with mild brain damage which resulted in her having Cerebral Palsy. From a personal point of view I do not think Eva would be doing as well as she is without the help she has received from the school. The work they do is amazing and I am very grateful for their support. Eva has become very confident and a very independent child; I look forward to Eva’s future improvements, thanks to everyone at the school.
As you can see the school/charity is very close to our heart as everyone getting involved in the charity event is all family and friends of Eva.
If you would like to sponsor us we would be very grateful, you could do this in several ways firstly each fund raiser will have a sponsor form, or you could donate via our just giving website which is www.justgiving.co.uk/grandunioncanalconductiveeducation . If any businesses or if anyone would like further information on fund raising for the school they can contact the fund raiser for children services who is:
Louise Watkins, Fund raiser Children Services, 0121-442-5559
If you would like further information about the school you can visit the website at www.conductive-education.org.uk
We thank you for taking the time to read this letter and hope you can support us in anyway.
