Mental Health UK is here for anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We are made up of four organisations based in each of the four nations of the UK, working together to improve mental health.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having not run seriously since my cross country school days in the late 70's and early 80's, and the decline in my golf game I felt it was about time to set myself a new personal challenge.

So, the opportunity to support LBGs charity partner, Mental Health UK, through competing in the Great Scottish Run on 1st October was too good an opportunity to miss. I turned down the easier option of running the 10k when at the point of signing up a 'friend' of mine told me I needed to get back into shape so my ego kicked in and I immediately signed on the half marathon dotted line!

My training is going well - up to over 10 miles now, although as an insulin dependent diabetic I have a number of other considerations to factor in. As a result I am 'learning as I go' in terms of the impact on my blood sugar levels as I build up the training miles. Just got a 'libre' patch inserted in my arm which means I can track my blood sugar now by flashing the reader across it.

As of 22 September we have reached £500 - amazing - which means over £1000 has been raised with the LBG matching.

Many thanks
