The tweetathon took place on Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th of October.  I tweeted 2064 times over 48 hours.  You can find out the whole story of my incredible experience here on my blog: http://diaryofaledger.blogspot.com/2009/10/tweetathon-2009-best-2-days-ever.html .

Thank you to all who have donated.

Those of you that know me will be well aware that I twitter.  Whilst on a train to Southsea last week I came up with a slightly unusual fund raising idea for BASICS that involves using twitter.

BASICS are a small group of medical professionals that in their own time provide advanced medical assistance outside of a hospital.  They saved a mates life after a major road traffic accident last year.  You can read more about them here: http://www.basicshampshire.org.uk/

What I’m going to attempt is 48 hours of sponsored tweeting.  I’m calling it a Tweetathon. I will commit to 12 hours but if I raise over £50 I’ll do 24 hours, £100 36 hours and for £150 I will do 48 hours without sleep.  I will commit to at least one tweet every 10 minutes during that period.  To be honest though there will probably be a lot more than that.

You will be able to follow my progress on twitter throughout the day as I will unprotect my twitter account for the 48 hour period.  My user name is diaryofaledger which you’ll be able to access at https://twitter.com/diaryofaledger.

If twitter goes down during that period (it does occasionally) I will switch to facebook where I have a ‘fan’ page for my actual blog that everyone has access too.  You can find that at here: http://www.facebook.com/diaryofaledger.

If I have an internet failure at home I can switch to my mobile phone for twitter.

I’m going to attempt this from midnight Sunday 11th October until midnight 13th October as long as the money rolls in.

BASICS is a really worth while cause and I hope that you enjoy making me stay up for two days without a break!

If I raise over £1000 I will do something crazy! Once the total goes past £150 I'll amend my target and let you know what that's gonna be.
