Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have entered The Great Leg Race at Castle Combe race track. This is a great opportunity for me to raise money to fund valuable research into my blinding, degenerative eye condition, Choroideremia.


Let me tell you just how close we are getting to having a cure available to prevent the condition from getting any worse (and hopefully prevent myself and many others from losing sight completely). Excitingly, clinical trials of a cure have been chalked in to start in the next 12 to 18 months! In order to minimise this timescale it is a matter of how much money we can raise as quickly as possible.


The Great Leg Race is my chance to lap Castle Combe race track by any means of transport as long as it is human powered. As you might have guessed from the picture I have chosen to ride a unicycle. At the point of entering the race I had bought a cheap one from ebay but could barely sit on it using a wall for support! I have since progressed to riding over 100m (beginning of June). If I can manage to complete 1 lap of the track (1.85 miles), I will be very happy...it certainly is a great challenge for me and one I hope will attract many donations!


Furthermore, if I manage to reach my goal of £1000, my employer have promised to top up with an extra £200.

8th June - Additional team member announced! Jim Cullingford has decided to cycle the track on a mini monkey bike. If you're unsure about what I mean, check out his photo. It will be some mean feat to get round the track - thank you Jim!


15th June - Matthew Dobson has decided to join the ranks and unicycle around the track with me! We have an ever growing team - great news, thank you!
