Helen & Douglas House helps local families cope with the challenges of looking after a terminally ill baby or child who will die prematurely. We are a home from home for our patients and their families, and provide round-the-clock care in a warm, loving environment.

Story

Dear Friends,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When my brother, Nick, said that he was helping to organise a charity cycle ride in support of Helen & Douglas House, I immediately agreed to participate. Unfortunately, at my age, my hearing is not what it used to be - I thought he said a cycle ride in Oxford whereas he actually said a cycle ride to Oxford. So here I am, committed to cycling 50 miles through Oxfordshire on September 28th. I have undertaken a modest amount of training and and although I have still been able to walk the next day, it has not necessarily been in a straight line.

Helen House opened in Oxford in 1982 as the world's first children's hospice. Douglas House followed in 2004 - the world's first hospice specifically for young adults, aged 16-35.  It is a fantastic cause - our cycle ride will finish at the Houses.

There will be over 50 fellow cyclists on the road on the day. I am trying to reach a personal target of £200. Any contribution you can make to help me overcome aching limbs and creaking joints would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks

Greg
