Story
I am; as you may know a dad to Molly who suffers daily from Rett Syndrome; since being diagnosed at the age of three, following a period of regression whereby Molly who was perfectly 'normal' lost the ability to talk and all her vocabulary disappeared, and she began to have Parkinsons like tremors in her hands. Molly later became asthmatic, epileptic and is now totally dependant on care.
However, Rett syndrome has been reversed in the lab and Rett Syndrome Research Trust (RSRT) UK has been at the forefront in funding clinical studies to push this amazing breakthrough through to trials in our girls.
There is real hope, not fantasty cling to your dreams hope. but real tangible hope, fed to us through world renowned award winning scientists that this will become the first reversable brain disorder.
I am along with a group of supporters for RSRT UK undertaking the 5x50 challenge which involves all of us running, cycling, swimming, walking 5km a day every day for 50 days. I completed the 5x50 in 2012 and it destroyed my knees. I had to walk it for a few weeks, and I missed one day. This time I aim to run all 50 days (except when I competing in the 60km walk which overlaps this!) And on the final day will walk 5k with my 5 year old son Matthew.
We do this for our girls. There is hope, please help us get there. Thankyou x
