Story
Our oldest son Fred was in the same year at primary school with 7-year-old Taylan Rawlinson (pictured above). Fred and Taylan used to play as a formidable defensive pairing in the village football team.
Taylan was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour located in the brain stem. Just 10 months later, in August 2009, he died.
Taylan's inspirational Mum and Dad have set up Taylan's Project - an impressive umbrella group of the established charity, Brain Tumour Research. Their goal is to raise funds to help find a cure for this devastating illness.
On Saturday 9th June we'll be joining parents and friends of Taylan to compete the 2012 Blenheim Triathlon to raise awareness of Brain Tumour funding. Greg is in the Sprint Tri, Sophie in the Super Sprint.
All funds you donate here go to Taylan's Project....please dig deep, we can make a big difference - here's 3 good reasons why:
More people under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer.
Yet, brain tumour research receives less than 1% of the UK cancer research spend.
Just 14% survive beyond five years - compared to 50% for all cancers.
