Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will know I was due to attempt this last year, however 6 weeks before the date I tripped and tore my right Achilles tendon, this was after I had decided to come out of retirement after rupturing my left Achilles tendon 3 years previously.
I think fate is telling me that this needs to be my last London Marathon and stick to gardening as I'm fast approaching 50!.
This years training has been slow as I was unable to run for over a month but I'm almost enjoying the training now with only a few weeks to go.
Its a pretty safe bet that I wont be troubling the elite runners again, but just completing it will be for me, a fantastic achievement after I thought I'd not be able to run again 4 years ago.
I'm using this an an opportunity to again raise money for Action Heart, a local charity that does fantastic work providing cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention for people who have suffered a heart attack, undergone heart surgery or have a heart related condition
Had a service like this been available 30 years ago the outcome for my Dad may have been different, so if by raising some money to help them continue to provide this support keeps some other Dads going to a ripe old age, then my training aches and pains will be a small price to pay.
