The Martlets Hospice - Friday Night Ride to the coast · 26 March 2010 ·
Ok... it is nearly crunch time. Despite a couple of injury related setbacks over the last couple of months which have involved being on crutches and, more recently, using a stick, and which have meant I've done almost no preparation for this I'm still going ahead with it. Doctor said "You're nuts but OK" Physio said something fairly similar but put it slightly more colourfully.
The target is to raise £1000 for the Martlets Hospice in Hove, a totally worthwhile cause.
You'll give them money. I'll cycle 200 km. That is a gen-you-ine bargain, 200km and several hours of sweat snot and tears, with the possibility of a bit of blood if it goes pear shaped, for just £10. We can't say fairer than that can we?
I'll ride London - Brighton - Chichester - Horsham leaving Hyde Park Corner at midnight on Friday and getting home... well... um... when I get there. It is going to hurt, it is probably going to hurt quite a bit and it is probably going to hurt quite a bit more than another bike ride I've done recently. What's not for you to like? London - Brighton I'll be doing in the company of like minded nutters but Brighton - Chi - Home will be the full fat "loneliness of the (not very) long distance cyclist" experience.
