Story

The Acre Foundation, run by our team, exists to raise funds for causes close to our hearts. Find out about the positive impact it's made on people, communities and the environment.

Every year we undertake a challenge in support of a range charities. In 2016 we conquered Mount Toubkal in Morocco and in 2017 we tackled the formidable Freedom Trail across the Pyrenees from France into Spain. in 2018 we took on the Welsh 3000.

This year we will be taking on a grueling three day trek over The Accursed Mountains. Starting in Albania and crossing into Montenegro on day one where we will climb Zla Kolata, the highest peak in the country at 2,534m. Day two will see us trek from Cerem to Doberdol over rough terrain with a total climb of 1,439m for the day. On day three we will cross over into Kosovo and make our way to Peja for a celebratory Raki!

We have chosen a charity that is really making a difference globally against the ever growing impact of plastic pollution.

Plastic Oceans UK have been experts on plastic pollution for nearly a decade. This began with their award-winning documentary A Plastic Ocean, now available for streaming on Netflix. Each year an extra eight million tonnes of plastic enters the ocean. By supporting Acre, you're facilitating us fund education, science and sustainability programmes that will create a wave of change.

Through changing attitudes, behaviours and practices on the use and value of plastics, we can stop plastic pollution reaching the ocean within a generation.

We tackle Ocean threats by turning Ocean Science into understandable, practical tools; engaging people through film and popular culture; and running engagement programmes for youth. As the first generation to deeply understand Ocean issues, we’re also the last generation who can stop them.
