Story
"Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer. For over 50 years the British Heart Foundation (BHF) has pioneered research that’s transformed the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. Its work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease. Every day, the BHF saves lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and vital information.”
As you all may, or may not know, I often like to spend some time doing my bit for charity, with my most recent event was a Charity Tribute Concert for the British Heart Foundation where we managed to raise over £1000.
With that in mind, I would like to turn your attention to my latest fundraiser.
On Sunday 1st June 2014, I am arranging a 5 A-Side football tournament where I would like to invite you to enter a team, have some fun, and ultimately raise money for a good cause as all proceeds will got the British Heart Foundation.
The Tournament, which some say will be more entertaining than the World Cup 2014 which coincidently starts a week after, will be a in a traditional Group and then Knock-out format, where teams will be guaranteed at least an hour’s play – more if they successfully qualify for the knockout stages.
This will be held at the Aston Power league in Birmingham. For those that have played there before, it is a really good outdoor venue where we have arranged qualified referees to take charge of the games. For more details on the location please refer to www.powerleague.co.uk
A total of 16 teams and 112 players played on the 1st June
2014, the teams being:
HEART FC , Call To
Action, Ciroc Boyz , Long Odds FC, FC Elite, Scrambled, Jim Dave FC, Reserves
FC, The Reds, Teamla FC, Guru Ravidass FC (A),
SINGH SABHA FC (A),
Element, Guru Ravidass FC (B), German Elite, SINGH SABHA FC (B).
Ciroc Boyz came out
as the winners but every team involved looked to have enjoyed the tournament.
Please see images on my BHF -5-A-Side Charity album on facebook page.
For this, there will be a £70 entry fee for each team,
with a maximum of 7 players per team.
Kick of at 12:00pm
Again, I would just like to remind you all that the proceeds are going towards the British Heart Foundation.
