Story
I would like to introduce to our newly formed running team of three called Gurkha DNA. Although DNA actually means DNA. It is also abbreviation made by the first letter of our names. Deevas Gurung , Nitendra Gurung and Anish Bhattachan. Since all our fathers are Gurkhas we felt it was only appropriate.
We hope to raise money and awareness for the Gurkha Welfare Trust, which is a truly remarkable charity. It was established to provide aid and support to Gurkha veterans, ex-servicemen who served the British Crown, and their dependents who are in poverty or distress. All funds raised will be donated to The Gurkha Welfare Trust Charity.
We are pleased to announce that on the 6th of October, we will be participating in the GURKHA RUN at Salisbury Plain. For those who are unaware, the Gurkha run is a 10 km run inspired and loosely based on the infamous Gurkha recruitment process, 'The Doko Race' and includes running uphill while carrying weights, waist high water and various assault courses over the 10 km distance. To put it bluntly, it's not your normal cross-country course.
We are working very hard for this event, and since none of us have really ever entered an event of such calibre and physical demand, it will push us to our limits and beyond. I feel in the end we will have to adopt the philosophy of a Gurkha, which is to have guts, be determined and be brave.
