Blenheim Palace Triathlon 2013 · 10 May 2013

We are the largest UK charity that supports people with dyslexia & their families, teachers & employers. We aim to change society by breaking through the barriers and enabling everyone with dyslexia to be acknowledged, accepted and empowered.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Dyslexia probably affects between 5 and 10 percent of the UK and other populations. Dyslexia is considered to be a receptive language-based learning disability, that can lead to dysgraphia, auditory processing disorder and developmental dyspraxia amongst other disorders. I grew up with dyslexia, which was, in my case, especially a reading, language, and math’s disability. I was extremely fortunate when I was around 9 years old to have the educational support of Judith Thom, who taught me techniques and technical aids to deal with it at that age. It is accepted that intervention early on, while language areas in the brain are still developing, is most successful in reducing the long-term impact of dyslexia. It certainly helped me to get over the issue. This is why I have decided to raise money for this worthy cause and to donate anything raised to the British Dyslexia Association. So I hope that you will help me raise some money to help those that suffer from this disorder, and to fund further research (whether by way of research into neuroanatomy, genetic or examined gene–environment interactions) to help others.

So please make a donation.
