In September I am joining 30 others in a charity cycle ride from Winchester to Gilbraltar to raise funds for Cancer Research. I will be completing the first leg to Bordeaux around 370 miles, up to 90 miles a day.
I am a late entrant to this event, joining my first team training event on the 24th July this was a 90 mile ride with a total of 8,000ft of ascent according to my brother Mark's "sat nav" (I lost my maps after 60 miles).
It was a "gentle ride" for the the rest of the team who have been training for sometime, after this initial ride I did take my bike back to the shop as it seemed to go downhill extremely well but was slower than everyone else's uphill I have since found out this was weight related feature?
I am now continuing my training to ensure I am as prepared as possible to achieve the 90 miles a day target we have set ourselves.
