CHILDREN IN CRISIS CHARITY
Children in Crisis currently operates in eight countries, working with local communities to meet the needs of children in the most effective way.
We work in partnership with local organisations to provide educational opportunities for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
In Africa and Asia we support local organisations to develop education programmes for children and their communities. This includes training teachers, building and equipping schools, delivering community education programmes and training in basic health education including HIV prevention.
In Europe, there is a need for drugs education, particularly for children living in societies in which drug and alcohol misuse is common. We work with these children to ensure that they have the information and skills needed to make positive, informed decisions about their own lives.
EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS
We train teachers, teacher trainers and educators and build, rehabilitate and equip schools to ensure children are taught by confident, knowledgeable and motivating teachers in an environment which is safe, secure and properly equipped.
EDUCATION FOR HEALTH
In many of the countries in which we work, children are exposed to sickness, disease and drug misuse. In response to this, we are training teachers, children and their communities about relevant issues from HIV and AIDS to the facts about drugs and alcohol. Equipped with the right information children are empowered to make positive and safe decisions about their lives.
EDUCATION FOR THE COMMUNITY
We support and deliver educational initiatives that meet the needs of children and young people who are unable to enrol in mainstream education, such as those living in remote or nomadic communities or those children who have to work. We run education centres outside of normal school hours and locations, providing vocational and literacy training to enhance the ability and opportunities for children and young people to earn a living.
