1000 days to 2012: The HCC Challenge · 31 October 2009

AFK is a disability and neurodiversity charity providing support to children and young people across the UK. We assist young people in accessing specialised mobility equipment that isn't available on the NHS and routes to paid employment in an effort to close the disability employment gap.

Story

We've done it!! Well done everyone. Still collecting donations, though - THANKS!!

October 31st: 1000 days to go until the 2012 Games

We're just so excited that we thought we'd do something special and raise money for a great charity too.

Up to 1,000 x 1,000m using cardio-vascular equipment in SPACe gym at Hackney Community College.

One person could do 1,000 metres or multiples of 1,000m. Paul Lazarus kicked us off on the 31st with a massive 120,000 metres. He'll be followed by other staff, students, gym members and friends through the week. Olympic hopeful, sprinter Ryan Scott dropped in to race students and our principal Ian Ashman on Friday 6th.

The gym is open 7am-9pm. It's on Falkirk Street, London N1 6HQ (part of Hackney Community College's Shoreditch Campus). Contact jdanchie@hackney.ac.uk or marketing@hackney.ac.uk

All money raised will go to Action for Kids - a north London based charity that helps children with disabilities to get mobile.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

So please dig deep and donate now. And/or get your shorts on and do a stint in the gym!
