Story

Hemlington Hoppers' year of fundraising for the Breast Cancer Campaign

April 2011 - The Hemlington Hoppers have just returned from our trek along the Great Wall of China. We spent 5 days walking (and sometimes crawling!) along miles of the wall. Our guide Brian Jackson estimated that we had ascended and descended some 25000 steps, not counting the scree slopes and narrow ledges. We managed to do this without a blister or a tear and a fantastic team spirit. I am very proud of my colleagues from Viewley Hill Primary who completed this challenge with me. So far we have raised £18796 for the  Beat Breast Cancer campaign. Thank you again to those of you who have made this possible, Andrea.

December 22nd 2010 The Little Theatre Bar, Bowls  and Con's Club.   We would like to thanks Ian Hobbs and his group of Brass Instrumentalists who played christmas tunes for all to enjoy. It was a very festive night thanks to all who gave to the Hemlington Hoppers fund £220

October 15th 2010- The Ball at Gisborough Hall

Around 100 people attended the Ball organised by members of the Hoppers, we would like to thank all the wonderful people who made it a special night with their generosity in helping us to raise over £1600...A special thanks to Alison Potter and her musician friends for their fantastic contribution to the night.

September 5th 2010 - Teespride 10k - 3 of us took a bucket and walked - the rest ran! We collected £150 in the bucket -  Sarah counted it! Thanks to those taking part - Andrea, Helen, Sarah Cook, Bernadette & Jen Shail, Mark Scarlet and Anthony Stephenson. A special thanks to Sue Welburn and Alison Kitson from Hemlington Childrens Centre  - they both ran for us and raised over £200. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us - it made the effort worthwhile.

August 28th 2010, Today we were bag packing in Tesco at Coulby Newham Middlesbrough, we raised a staggering £864  WOW !!!  Thanks to all the shoppers who donated and special thanks to Jayne Brown, Sue Welburn, Alison Kitson and an extra extra special thanks to Jenna and Katie Hobbs thanks for all your help.

July 3rd - Hemlington Fun Day, we managed to raise £192 by selling sweets, crisps, drinks and ice pops. We also had a bric-a-brac and book stall. Thanks to all who bought from us and put money into our buckets.

May 4th- We are almost at the half-way stage thanks to the hard work and generosity of our friends, family and sometimes complete strangers. This Saturday we raised £714 by packing bags in Asda.  We can hardly believe how kind people have been. Thank you for taking time to visit our page. Love  from the Hoppers x

We have all been touched by the great strength of people (men and women) with breast cancer. We want to do our best to support the campaign to beat breast cancer and we need your help. Please donate as much as you feel able. Breast cancer now affects 1 woman in 9. We are hoping to meet or even exceed our target through fundraising activities over the next year .

Thank you very, very much for your support.

With love: Helen, Chris, Sue, Andrea, Jodie and Katie x
