My story
In April 2012 I will be part of a team trekking to Everest Base Camp (17,500ft above sea level). I will be trekking along with 24 of my work colleagues from St. James’s Place Wealth Management and together we hope to raise £500,000 for our Foundation which grants awards to the smaller UK registered charities operating in the UK and abroad.
This trek represents a huge commitment and change of lifestyle for me. I’ve gone from no exercise at all to every day having some form of training in it. Whether it’s giving up my tube ride to walk from Waterloo to work and back each day (just under 5 miles round trip), personal training sessions, gym work, classes, etc etc. As well as fitting in weekends with the team in the Lakes and a week of altitude training in July 2011 when we trekked around the Alps from our base in Chamonix. Oh yes and trying to fit in work and life too! However, my big challenge will be going without my luxuries for 3 weeks in the Himalayas, no space for hairdryer or GHD’s for me!
We are funding the trip ourselves so ALL money raised will go to the Foundation and moreover will be matched pound-for-pound by St. James's Place itself.
