HMS Victory · 7 September 2012

Our museums and ships bring to live the centuries-old marriage between the Royal Navy, Britain's identity a an island nation, and its lasting impact on the world. We reveal the untold adventures and unvarnished realities of the men and women who have served on, below and above the waves.

Story

The nation’s flagship – and the stuff of legend. She is the only surviving example of a Georgian period, first rate (100+ guns) line of battle ship. Victory led the charge at the battle of Trafalgar, whose outcome played a peerless role in shaping the world for over a century. Arguably England’s greatest hero, Nelson, was shot down on her quarter deck and died later on her orlop, after learning of his triumph.

Victory is currently undergoing the biggest conservation programme in her history. We need to raise a further £15 million to complete an endowment that we ensure that this maritime icon is preserved, for the benefit of generations to come.

At present, nature has done more damage to this mighty ship, than she endured at Trafalgar. Extensive work is needed to save her.

Please give generously to help save and protect this stunning, unique vessel.
