<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;">On Saturday the 2nd of July, almost 200 of the world's best cyclists will begin an epic 3 week battle to complete the Tour de France, racing across flatlands and over some of the highest mountain passes in Europe. 500 miles further north in Morecambe, 17 Huddersfield cyclists will attempt to ride from the west coast to the east coast in Scarborough in one day. A distance of over 130 miles and including climbs in the Dales and Sutton Bank, this is not an easy ride by any stretch.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;">I'll be one of the 17 riders taking part in this challenge for the first time. Last year, the ride was completed in a fantastic time of 8 hours, which works out at just under 20mph! After a few weeks off the bike with a cold, I've got some catching up to do to make sure I'm not hanging off the end of the group and suffering all day.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;">The club usually picks a charity for all the riders to raise money for, <span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-weight: normal; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">but this year it's up to us to pick. I thought, why change the habit of a lifetime? I'll therefore be raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust again.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11.5pt; font-weight: normal; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">Cystic Fibrosis is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease; it affects over 8,000 people in the UK (including my brother Toby and myself). Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, making it hard to breathe and digest food.
