HYT supports sustainable development in Uganda by using environmentally friendly technologies. British volunteers & Ugandans work together improving lives, providing employment opportunity by constructing water tanks & low cost buildings & training young Africans in useful, practical skills.

Story

As many of you know I have been working out in Uganda for the past 2 years managing training and construction projects in rural areas. as my time is coming to a close I was hoping to be able to finance the construction of a new water tank at our latest 'one village at a time' project Kymenulo Primary school in Kamuli district (about 60Km north of Jinja where our office is based)

I will be doing this 20Km run with the two current HYT volunteers, Tristan and Freddie as well as as many of the trainees past and present that want to get involved.

We will be running between all of our previous 'One Village' Sites that I have been involved with in some way. (Have a look at the map on our blog for a better idea http://haileyburyyouthtrust.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-marathon-fundraiser.html) We will be pausing at each site to pick up HYT guys who were trained at each site for them to join us along the way.

I am aiming to raise £750 because this will enable HYT to finance a 10,000 Litre water tank for Kymenulo Primary school which would go a long way to helping the school and the local community.

Thank you for getting this far through my little story, I will update you along the way, but in the mean time please have a gander at the blog (http://haileyburyyouthtrust.blogspot.com) and website (www.hytuganda.com) for more info about what we do and how we do it.
