Bristol Mind is a mental health charity for people in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We promote wellbeing and recovery through a range of services, including our MindLine helplines, Hate Crime service, counselling, and training. We're affiliated with Mind, but we're independently funded.

Story

Thank you very much for making the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the end of last year, a couple of friends and I raised money for a project in Gambia. I was amazed at how much we raised, and decided that I wanted to do something by myself, for a different cause. The only question was: what?!

As many people know, I love doing things that others would call 'outrageous'- especially with my hair! To date, my hair has been blonde, brown, auburn, black, purple, pink, magenta, blue, green and red. I've also experimented with long hair, short hair, full fringes, side fringes, assymetrical cuts... You name it, chances are I've done it. Well, all except from one. I've never tried shaving my hair off. And therein lies my epiphany!

The charity was also very easy to decide. For a while, I've wanted to raise money for Mind. For those who don't know, Mind is a mental health organisation. Around 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem every year, and these problems can affect all areas of life. It's a huge thing that often gets passed over and discriminated against. Mind not only provide help, information and training, they also have various campaigns, including trying to end discrimination surrounding mental health. It's an amazingly good cause, and something that is very close to my heart.

The first thing people say when they find out what I'm planning on doing this (after the whole moment of expressing nothing but shock) is how can I even think about losing my hair? Well, of course, it terrifies me. But that's the point. I want to do something that will terrify me, because I need to challenge myself, just so I can feel like I'm actually making a sacrifice, and also to raise my own self-confidence.

So: 14th June. The big day. It all comes off.

I hope that's explained all the what/why's etc. At the moment, my target is to raise £100. However, I would love to smash that target. Please, please give what you can- every little helps!
