Story
This year, 2012, inspired by certain goings-on in East London, the fearless foursome parading as the Hairy Test Cycles Team will once again put stupidity and charitable high jinks before sense by participating in not one, but two crass silly adventures.
In June, members of the team will set off from sleepy Bedford and head for London and then Dover, take a ferry and continue to the hopefully sun drenched Dordogne. 1000 Kms in 5 Days ! Phew !
In September, the team will once again join the Extra Mile 2012 £1Million challenge, starting in Luxembourg, through Belgium, Germany, France, and ending up in Versailles – 800 Kms in 3 Days. Yikes !
The Team will have to climb every mountain, ford many streams, follow many highways and low-ways, even follow rainbows, until we find our dreams – rest, beer, and hopefully a good amount of funds raised for the Charities.
The Team will once again be made up of Cap’n Tim the ‘Beast’ Batson [ Colour Supplies ], Colin ‘Goat’ Tidd [Houghton Insurance Bureau ], ‘Eric’ Pete Galliford [ Mechline ] and Kev ‘Flash’ Foley [ Foley Exhibitions ].
The Hairy Test Cycles team will be raising money for two charities principally - two-thirds of monies raised in sponsorship will go to The British Heart Foundation and the TAG Rugby Trust. The remainder, through the Extra Mile Charity will go to : St Johns Ambulance, Willen Hospice and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Last year as a team we raised over £6000 for very worthy charities [ Overall Extra Mile raised £110,000 ]. This year with your help, we would really like to better that, and provide help where it really matters.
Going the extra mile for people in need
The Team are again very kindly supported by Milton Keynes Audi. We would once again like to express our sincere thanks to a great team.
If you would care to support these fools and their bikes, but more importantly these very worthwhile Charities, they and we would be eternally grateful. 'Thank You’
Please do include Gift Aid – it makes such a significant difference. Donating through Just Giving is safe and convenient. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
