Story

ANOTHER £500 FROM CAPGEMINI - THANK YOU!

WE DID IT ! - Thank you for all donations (keep them coming!)

We are off on a wonderful adventure to cycle from Walney Island to Saltburn crossing the dramatic Lakes to Kendal and the steep and dangerous "Pennines" to Leyburn. Finally taking on the majestic North Yorkshire Moors and the 25% inclines near Commondale - before descending helter-skelter into Saltburn and the warm welcome of our families and friends.

This will be a significant challenge for us over three days, covering about 80km each day before collapsing into bed - only to repeat the exercise the following day - without forgetting that half the distance (and more than half the time) will be cycling uphill.

In 2009 Carol Holdsworth (the wife of one of our team) suffered a fractured spine when a tree collapsed on her while walking in upper Swaledale.  Without the local Mountain Rescue and the Great North Air Ambulance she wouldn't have made it to hospital.

The Great North Air Ambulance covers the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire - providing a service to speed those in urgent need of care from remote locations where land based Ambulances are can't cover as quickly.  The running costs are huge and all from voluntary donations - we are hoping to raise at least £2,500 - about the cost of running one helicopter for 1 day!

Please support us in our efforts to raise money for the Air Ambulance and make a donation now.

Thanks - The Halo Velo Team.
