*** Update - Emma and I jumped out the plane on Saturday 22nd August 2009 - it was the most fantastic thing I've ever done! It's great to know you're all supporting me and the Feedback Trust - read more about the projects I'm sponsoring below! Thank you ***
Hi everyone - thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page!
I am sky-diving to raise money for the Tap Fund (under the umbrella charity Feedback Madagascar), which supports projects in Madagascar. This was set up through Lancaster Girls Grammar School after World Challenge expedition teams travelled there is Summer 2008.
Money I raise through this skydive is going to fund well-drilling projects in rural communities. Diarrhoeal diseases are still one of the main killers of children under 5 years old in , and lack of access to clean water is one of the main contributing factors. Feedback now has two teams trained and active in drilling wells using the low-cost technology ‘rotasludge’, and their installation with hand-pumps. Each well costs on average £1000, but tragically, funding from USAID has been suddenly cut this month (July 2009) which is a huge blow for the other twenty communities who were expecting to benefit from the project over the next six months, and who had already prepared their community contributions. Funds are desperately needed to be able to continue with the work and keep the teams working.
The sky-dive I am planning on completing aims to raise as much money as possible to help this project, and help people get access to clean water. Every donation you make will be contributing to this fantastic project!
