Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may know I'm attempting to run the Berlin Marathon on 25th September 2011 and figured if I was going to run that far then it would be good to raise money for charity at the same time.
I am raising money for the National Autistic Society. Throughout the last 9 years I have worked with lots of children with Autism. Many have been challenging and frustrating, but so many more have been interesting, inspirational and have touched my heart.
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them. Autism is much more common than many people think. There are over half a million people in the UK with autism - that's around 1 in 100. If you include their families, autism touches the lives of over two million people every day. Autism doesn't just affect children. Children with autism grow up to be adults with autism. While autism is incurable, the right support at the right time can make an enormous difference to peoples lives.
