Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to take part in the Run every day in January to raise money for Mind. This year, I hope to tackle the notorious challenge of the Man V Horse challenge, on foot! I decided to set this as my goal when I started running at the end of the summer.
Most people may (or may not!) know I suffer with Anxiety and Depression. I struggle to control it sometimes but for the most part I know what I need to do. I started running properly this year after a good friend of mine kept telling me how good it is to boost your mood. I had nothing to lose, so off I went with my trusty, energetic spaniel in tow (well, she tows me!).
I love it! It hurts, it's hard, I sometimes want to give up but most of all, I refuse to stop! I just keep putting one foot in front of the other, keep my head up, dig in, feel the wind in my face and feel free. The feeling is incredible.
I don't run far. I don't run fast. But I run. I run because I want to. I run because it makes me feel good.
Taking part in this campaign seems like a perfect start to the year. Keep my mind occupied during the most difficult time of the year for me.
Mind do some fantastic work. It makes people feel they are not alone and that is the most important thing to someone with mental illness. It's not fake, it's not an excuse. Mental illness is exactly that, an illness. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. All it takes to help someone is to support them and love them. If you can't do that, support Mind, they do that for you.
