Story

In my 8th and (hopefully) final year of studenthood, I have decided to make the most of my freedom from the 9-5 in aid of a very good cause. I'll be entering 12 half marathons in 12 months for Macmillan. From the start line in Bristol in September, to the finish line next August, I'll be running 157 race miles and well over 800 miles in training - that's the distance from London to Barcelona.

More than 1 in 3 people will suffer from cancer during their lifetime, so, one day, we could all need Macmillan to give us support, whether it be as sufferers, relatives, or friends.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate.

So please dig deep and donate now.

It's over! This Sunday I crossed the Ealing Half Marathon finish line in 1h48, despite some angry complaints from my poor put-upon knees. Now time to sit back for a couple of weeks - before finding a new challenge... Thanks so much to everyone who has supported me this year!

Sunday saw another run around the Bristol Half course, 49 weeks after the first attempt last year. Not quite up to last year's speed at 1 hour 48, but quite happy to have overtaken the man dressed as the Honey Monster and not to have given myself another injury! Just one left...

17/09/13 11:58

A sad lack of Wombles at the Wimbledon Half Marathon this Sunday for the 10th of my 12 races. Not exactly a record breaker at 1 hour 58, but quite a challenge for my Scottish genes and their inherent incapacity to deal with heat and sunshine!

29/07/13 15:21

After a couple of months off for injury, I spent Sunday conquering the hugely punishing Coniston Trail Half Marathon in 2 hour 25 - and 25C! Some epic scenery and a whole world of pain; but 9 races are now down, and just 3 to go...

09/07/13 18:26

Today was my first trail run in Evesham Vale - 1 hour 54 of mud, hills, 18 stiles, ploughed fields, paddocks, and more mud. 8 down, just 4 to go!
