LAS would like to take this opportunity to thank all of Ian and Hannah’s friends and family for the generous donations made to our charity. We were overwhelmed with the amount raised and your contribution will be used to help fund our activities and outings programme.
For parents of children with autism, weekends and school holidays can be extremely stressful. They have few or no choices for childcare as mainstream children's activities do not have appropriately trained staff or the facilities to cater for children with Autism Spectrum Conditions. Each year we fundraise to enable the children to take part in a range of different activities throughout the year. For example, we take groups of children trampolining, to soft play centres, to country parks or we engage an art therapist to run art workshops with them. For the parents and families playschemes, activities and outings provide respite or the ability to maintain employment. Our children and young people with autism gain great benefit - they learn to share in group activities which helps to improve their communication skills, they make friends and this in turn helps them to develop better social, emotional and independent living skills.
