This year I decided I needed a challenge, so on 20th June 2010 I am doing a Triathlon to raise money for York Against Cancer.

In the last 12 months both my Uncle and Auntie have lost their battles against this dreadful disease. They are my motivation to complete the challenge and their families have asked that any money I raise goes to a local charity, which is why I have chosen York Against Cancer.

York Against Cancer are a wonderful charity - not only do they provide specialist nurses to sufferers and support to their families through the all too frequent tough times, but they fund research into Cancer treatment and prevention through collaboration with The University of York and York District Hospital.

I'm faced with an 800m swim (in a lake!), a 20km bike ride and a 5km run (with no hair straightners or mascara in sight!). I have paid for all my equipment and race entry fees myself so you can rest assured that all the money I raise will go directly to York Against Cancer.
