Walk for Ryan · 21 September 2013

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

Charlotte Bee

Charlotte Bee worked for Raglan Housing in Bournemouth – the most optimistic and joyful person you could wish to meet. Charlotte left Raglan, married Luke and they started a family of their own. She had a little boy called Louis followed quickly by Ryan. They certainly take after their Mum in that their beaming smiles can brighten the day.

About Ryan

Ryan is also the bravest of boys. At the tender age of 5 months Ryan was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and was admitted to Great Ormond Street Hospital.  AML can affect anyone, but is very rare in childhood. Only 50 children a year are diagnosed with this awful disease.

At 12 months old Ryan has undergone chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant and experimental treatment. Sadly despite all this the leukaemia returned and the options ran out. Ryan was then admitted to Naomi House where he spent the short time remaining.

Sadly Ryan passed away on the 10 July, Ryan surely earnt his wings – In September we will be doing a sponsored walk in memory of this wonderful little boy.

DATE:   Saturday 21 September 2013

LOCATION:         Sandbanks to Hengistbury Head.  10 miles may not sound far, but for some of those that do not possess flat shoes it may prove to be a challenge.

We will be raising money for charities that support childhood cancer and Clic Sergant  who have worked to support Ryans family during this time.

We would like as many of you as possible to support us either by joining our walk or donating whatever you can afford – we will provide details of a just giving page very soon.

Thank you
